Department Definition

The Human Resources, Workforce and Volunteers department (HRD) is responsible for delivering an exceptional workforce who will deliver an exceptional Expo. HRD includes the following functional areas: Human Resources Operations (HRO), Workforce (WKF), Volunteers (VOL), Internal Communications, Training & Engagement (IET), Emiratization & Expo Academy (EMI)

Opportunity Responsibilities

The Role of the Policy and Reward Function within HRO is to review and develop Human Resources Policies and ensure its implementation, develop strategy to attract, reward and retain the right talent to deliver an exceptional Expo. Work in collaboration with all HRD functions in overseeing employee compensation, processing payroll and managing the uniforms, reward and recognition and outplacement programs.

Main responsibilities for this role include:

- Conduct research and benchmark Expo 2020 Dubai, pay, benefits and reward policies in line with the market best practice, in order to attract and retain talents;

- Evaluate the existing processes, streamline them in order to enhance efficiency and thus reduce the turnaround time; 

- Develop the relevant tools e.g. policies and procedures, employee on-boarding, absence management, performance management, payroll administration, employee separation and End of Service process to manage an employee through the lifecycle of their employment with Expo 2020 Dubai; 

- Review and update a comprehensive and up-to-date Expo 2020 Dubai employee handbook and onboarding documentation; 

- Contribute to the event time Workforce policies and procedures (led by Head of Workforce) to ensure they are aligned to all pre-event time policies and procedures; 

- Work closely with the Head of HR Policy and Reward to develop and implement a pay and reward strategy that is reflective of an event organization; 


6+ years of experience, out of which at least 4 years in a similar role working in a major event, or in a Corporate Organization as well as:

- A Bachelor's Degree holder in any discipline with Diploma/Certification in HR/ Compensation/Reward Management;

- Hands-on experience in Jab Analysis and Job evaluations (any discipline/ framework), annual salary review and variable pay analysis etc; 

- Well versed in MS Office and HR systems and should be an expert in MS -Excel and PowerPoint;

- Strong Analytical skills and attention to details, process and result oriented;

- Project management skills;

- Proactive and positive attitude;
